The North East Creates

The North East has the talent, the ideas, the ambition… and the plan

The North East Culture, Creative Industries, Heritage and Sport Strategic Framework 2026-2036 sets out our vision to make the North East one of Europe's leading regions for culture, creativity, heritage and sport.

From Durham Cathedral to The Glasshouse, Kynren to the Great North Run, Hadrian’s Wall to Lindisfarne, and St James' Park to the Stadium of Light, there’s no shortage of talent, ideas and ambition in the North East, but not always the opportunity.

This framework explains how the North East MSA will use its devolved powers, investment and convening role to help people, businesses and places thrive.

Backed by more than £100 million of investment, we're unlocking the power of these sectors to create jobs, grow businesses, attract investment and open doors for the next generation.
