Join Us as Assistant Director of Place
Are you ready to shape the future of the North East?
We’re seeking a visionary leader to join the North East Combined Authority as Assistant Director of Place. This high-profile role offers a unique opportunity to drive forward our strategic ambitions across housing, regeneration, culture, and the built environment. Working at the heart of regional transformation, you’ll lead the development and delivery of key strategies—including our regional spatial plan, housing strategy, and culture and sport strategy—while advising senior leaders, the Mayor, and Cabinet. Your work will directly influence public policy and investment, ensuring our place-based initiatives reflect the aspirations of our communities and contribute to inclusive economic growth.
This is a role for a bold and collaborative changemaker.
You’ll bring a proven track record of strategic leadership in complex organisations, with deep experience in regeneration, spatial planning, housing, or infrastructure. Your ability to build strong partnerships across public, private, and third sectors will be key, as will your commitment to innovation, sustainability, and inclusion. Leading high-performing teams and managing significant resources, you’ll ensure delivery against ambitious objectives while championing community voice and continuous improvement. If you’re passionate about making a lasting impact and driving forward a fairer, greener North East, we’d love to hear from you.
We are committed to building a workforce that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve. This includes welcoming individuals from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds and valuing the unique perspectives and experiences they bring. We believe that a more representative team leads to better outcomes for all.
