Elected in 2022, she has been active in her community for many years having previously acted as Treasurer of a local toddler group, a Committee Member of a local pre-school, and a volunteer at her local rugby club.
Professionally, Councillor Welsh has a 30-year career in new market development, 10 of which have focussed on the decarbonisation of heat, power, and transport. She is particularly passionate about the economic development of and the inward investment in to the North East, the provision of high level cross-generational education and skills training, and the delivery of good quality affordable homes.
