Employee benefits

We offer a wide range of employee benefits designed to meet the needs of modern life, and are committed to developing our colleagues.

Generous employer contribution pension scheme. We offer membership into the Local Government Pension Scheme, which remains one of the most generous schemes around. In addition to your contribution into the scheme, the employer contributes between 14% and 18%. This is a career average salary scheme and your contribution is calculated based upon a percentage of gross earnings.

Flexible and agile working. We promote a positive work-life balance to enhance employee wellbeing and to support a diverse and inclusive workforce. To achieve this, we offer a range of flexible working options.

Holidays. We offer 27 days, plus an additional day off for your birthday rising to 32 days after 5 years continuous service, plus 8 bank holidays (pro-rata for part-time staff) with the option to buy additional leave.

Learning and development opportunities. We offer a range of learning and development opportunities to support you in meeting your career aspirations. As a new starter, you can expect to receive a thorough induction. We will also discuss your work and related future development, identifying any training or development you require to be effective and feel confident.

Health and wellbeing. We promote health and wellbeing through a number of initiatives including a comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme that provides a free and confidential counselling and assistance service, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days of the year.

Vivup employee benefits portal and lifestyle savings scheme. Vivup is an employee benefits portal that enables our employees to easily access information about our employee benefits online. The portal provides information on a number of different employee benefits. In addition, the portal provides access to Vivup’s Lifestyle Savings scheme, which features discounts across a host of major retailers.
