North East Mayor Kim McGuinness has commented on today’s Road Investment Strategy announcement and what it means for drivers in the region.
North East Mayor Kim McGuinness, said: “This is a victory for our region’s drivers and Emma Foody MP and I have spent months demanding ministers sort Moor Farm roundabout out. The congestion has been a nightmare for local people for too long and I’m delighted we’re seeing action.
“It’s also really positive to see additional investment in Sunderland and the dualling of the A66 between Penrith and Scotch Corner. However, I’m incredibly frustrated the A1 dualling remains stalled. The safety improvements are welcome but I will continue to shout loudly for the second lane we must see right along the stretch between Morpeth and Ellingham.”
