Mayor Meets

Mayor Kim McGuinness is committed to giving the people of the North East more of a say over how key decisions are taken handing back political agency to the villages, towns and cities which feel removed from London and power.

Find out where you can next meet Kim, and see videos from previous Mayor Meets events, below.

The Mayor

A note from Kim

I’m Kim McGuinness, your North East Mayor, and I’m here to make sure the voices of the North East are heard loud and clear. Too often it feels like decisions are made in London, with little thought for our towns, villages, and cities. I want to change that. I want to hand the power back to our region - and that starts with listening to you.

You’ll find me holding Q&As on the radio, chatting online, or out and about at schools, businesses, and local forums. Wherever people are, I want to be there because the best ideas come from you.

This is about people. I need to hear your experiences whether that’s the good or the bad so we can make this region the home of real opportunity. At these events, you can ask me about anything that falls within my role, including:

🚍 Transport – the greenest transport network in the country
🏡 Housing – affordable social housing
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Ending child poverty - tackling hardship faced by families
🌍 Economy – skills, jobs, business support and green energy

I’ll keep sharing updates here so you know when and where you can join in. Look forward to meeting with you at a future event soon!

Kim
