Residents and visitors across the North East can now explore brilliant attractions for less, thanks to a new initiative launched by North East Mayor Kim McGuinness.

Days Out By Bus offers up to 25% off entry at a wide range of participating venues when people travel by bus - including Beamish Museum, Life Science Centre, North East Museums, National Trust sites, and a range of other cultural locations across the region.

The scheme is part of the Mayor’s wider transport priorities, aimed at making travel cheaper, simpler and more rewarding for families across the North East.

North East Mayor Kim McGuinness said: “We’re proud of what we’ve got here in the North East - and we want more people to enjoy it. Days Out By Bus helps people save money, supports brilliant local attractions and cuts down on car journeys. It’s another way we’re making getting around fun again - not expensive or stressful.”

Anyone travelling by bus can access offers throughout the year – just show a valid ticket at participating venues.

To help plan journeys, the campaign is backed by Good Journey, offering travel guidance for all venues involved. The scheme also features 20 picturesque routes as part of the Great Scenic Journeys programme, showcasing the region’s transport links and landscapes.

Passengers who redeem an offer through the scheme will be able to enter a regional prize draw, offering travel credit and attraction passes to support future visits.

The campaign builds on measures already introduced by Mayor Kim McGuinness to make public transport more accessible, including:

  • Extension of Kids Go Free until September 2026
  • Mayor’s Fare ticket discounts, with over 50 million journeys taken to date
  • Ongoing reform to bring bus services into public control and build a network that puts people first

From coastlines to castles, heritage to hidden gems - Days Out By Bus makes it easier to experience the very best of the North East.
