The North East is experiencing significant growth, with major housing, infrastructure and green energy projects creating strong demand for skilled construction workers. While construction activity continues to increase, skills shortages remain across key trades, technical roles and site management.
The North East MSA is working with industry and training providers to ensure construction skills meet employer needs, boost productivity and create clear pathways into secure, well-paid careers.
Our focus is on strengthening the talent pipeline, expanding inclusive employment opportunities, and supporting the successful delivery of housing and infrastructure projects. We’re investing £11million to ensure the region has a skilled and resilient workforce; we aim to help the region meet future growth ambitions while contributing to the national goal of training 60,000 additional construction workers.
