The North East MSA's Integrated Settlement brings together the regions adult skills funds for 2026-27 which were previously devolved as the Adult Skills Fund, Free Courses for Jobs provision and Skills Bootcamp. The Integrated Settlement for Adult Skills is worth circa £80 million per annum for the region.
For the 2026-27 Academic Year, the MSA's Skills Programmes are split into three strands: Skills Foundation, Skills Activation, and Skills for Work.
- Skills Foundation focuses on building essential skills and confidence for individuals facing employment barriers to prepare them for progression.
- Skills Activation targets technical and sector-specific skills at Levels 2 and 3 to accelerate study, apprenticeships, and skilled employment opportunities.
- Skills for Work aligns with employer demand to address skill shortages and supports career progression through employer partnerships.
